Hi! My name is Christopher DelGrosso, I am a Engineer, U.S Marine, avid runner, father of a beautiful daughter, and husband to a wonderful wife. We currently live in New England, in the state of Maine, where the lobsters are fresh but the winters are cold.
I have always felt a special connection to food. Being Italian-American, food is an innate part of our culture. We cannot have a celebration, a visit, or even a funeral without food being the center of the occasion. As a child, some of the most special memories I have are spending time in the kitchen with my father. Helping him make the New Years ravioli, or “The Seven Fishes” on Christmas Eve, the Easter Shadone, and waking up to the smells of his spaghetti sauce every sunday morning.
I have also been blessed to have married into a wonderful Mexican family. My mother-in-law has inspired my cooking to another level. She has taught me the wonderful flavors of Mexico; from the wonderfully simple salsa, to the complex, earthen, dark, delicious Moles. Mexico is an endless palate of flavors just waiting to be tasted!
My mission is to fuse these two food cultures and try to bring them both to you, on ONE PLATE. I call it MexItaliano cuisine! I hope that you can follow me on this journey!

I love the idea of MexItaliano cuisine – here we´re doing ItalSpanGlish! Mixing cultures and cuisines is the best. Am off to have a look round your lovely blog now.
Gracias Chica! Please explore. I totally agree! I really like your blog also!
Hi 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for the comment! You’ve got a great site here and I’m finding recipes I’ve never made before – I love mexican food. I made pork posole for the first time and absolutely loved it. Have a great weekend!
Thank you very much for returning the visit! I am happy that you like the recipes! I am looking forward to sharing more with you in the future!
P.S. Thanks for the follow! 🙂
You’re recipes look very interesting! I can’t wait to try some of them at home. I just posted a slow-cooker tortilla soup that always brings me back to when I spent a couple months in Oaxaca. If you try it, you’ll have to let me know if it lives up to your families authentic standards 🙂
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you comeback often! I love tortilla soup and the food from Oaxaca is, in my opinion, the best food on earth!
Read about your family. Seems we are from the same roots. My grandfather and great grandfather were Giovanni DelGrosso and my grandmother is Theresa Basilone cousine of John Basilone all from Colle Sannita
I think I have spoken with a Theresa Basilone in the not to distant past. Was your maiden name DelGrosso? Where did you grow up? My grandfather had his name changed to John DelGrosso after he came to the states. But his birth record was Giovanni. We most likely are realted somehow!
Actually her name was Diane Basilone..
My maiden name was Moschette but my grandmother is Theresa Basilone and she died a few months ago. My grandfather and great grandfather were Giovanni DelGrosso and changed their names to John when they came here. I live in East Haven ct. My mother is Lillian DelGrosso, she is 72. I’m 48. Somehow our grandfathers are connected. My grandfather John DelGrosso was born in, I believe, 1912. Somewhere around there.
I don’t know if you realize theres a ton of DelGrossos that live in New York New Jersey and Ct. Every year we meet in New York for some events. Do you know Joe DelGrosso? He lives in Norwolk, ct.
You will have to let me know when the next reunion is, I would love to be invited to attend!
I really enjoy your blog so I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. More information at http://remcooks.com/2012/04/02/versatile-blogger-award/. Happy Blogging.
